George Hatfield speaks about
"What's New Going on at Hatfield Orchids"



We look forward to welcoming George Hatfield back to the Gold Coast Cym Society for our Season's Opening Meeting. The doors will open an hour early, at 6PM, for a Very Special Northern California George Hatfield appearance and awesome plant sale (he’s bringing a van full of plants).


We were fortunate to have George speak to the GCCS last year, and we look forward to his next generation presentation of “What's New Going on at Hatfield Orchids”.

George is the current president of the World Orchid Conference Trust (WOTC). He led the chanrge at their March meeting in Dresden, Germany.

He graduated with honors from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a Bachelor of Science in Plant and Soil Science. George is the founder of Hatfield Orchids, established in 1999. George served as President of the American Orchid Society 2016 – 2018, and he received the Hudlow Trophy from the Cymbidium Society of America recognizing his achievements in Cymbidium hybridizing.

OPPORTUNITY TABLE: George is providing seedlings of his crosses for this month’s table. You definitely will want to buy as many tickets as possible to get a hold of these once in a lifetime hybrids.



SEPTEMBER will be a great way to start our New Cymbidium Season





This is the month to come to our new season opener, with the incredible George Hatield.


If you are a NEW member, and joined our society from April to the day of the meeting, you will be Gifted an orchid plant from the society. Renewing members and Lifetime members will also receive new plants.

But to receive these plants, You must show up IN PERSON to the September or October meetings. and by Sept 18, you must have sent the Membership Chair your current updated info. You can get a head start by sending your Membership Fees in Now. More details in the upcoming September Newsletter.


Membership Renewal: If you still haven't renewed for the 2026 - 2027 Season, you can still do so! Contact the Membership Director Paul Asente, or look at the Membership Page.

Since George will be providing the Raffle Opportunity Table, you will definitely want to go overboard and buy as many tickets as you can afford. Opportunities like this do not come around often !!

6:00 - 7:30 Shop at Speaker sales table, and

7:30 - 7:50 Announcements. Show & Tell (bring your ................... blooming plants to the meeting to show, .................. .or show them via Zoom - see below *).

7:50 - 8:50 Speaker presentation

8:50 - 9:30 Snacks & Shop & Opportunity Table.


REFRESHMENTS


- Members are welcome to bring snacks to share. If you bring a snack to share, you will receive one ticket to a special drawing for the FIRST Opportunity Table plant!
